Please be sure to review ALL instructions below that apply to your specimen(s).
Specimens Submitted From North America:
Non-Prenatal Specimens:
Please send ONE of the following types of specimens:
- EDTA whole blood (purple top): minimum of 4 ml. Whole blood should be stored at 4°C until shipped.
- Fibroblasts: 4 confluent T-25 flasks. Please fill all flasks to capacity with cell culture media.
- Extracted DNA: a minimum of 30 micrograms of genomic DNA at concentration of 100 ng/µl or more, preferably in TE solution.
- Saliva: only samples collected in Oragene DNA Self-Collection Kit or Oragene Saliva Collection Kit for Young Children are accepted (www.dnagenotek.com).
Prenatal Specimens:
Please send ONE of the following types of specimens:
- Four confluent T-25 flasks of cultured amniocytes or CVS. Please fill all flasks to capacity with cell culture media.
- Extracted DNA: a minimum of 30 micrograms of genomic DNA at concentration of 100 ng/µl or more, preferably in TE solution.
It is highly recommended to include a sample from mother for maternal cell contamination study. Maternal sample requirements are the same as under Non-Prenatal Specimens.
Specimens From Outside Of North America:
- Please send extracted DNA: a minimum of 30 micrograms of genomic DNA at concentration of 100 ng/µl or more, preferably in TE solution.
It is not recommended to ship whole blood or cultured cells from any location other than the United States, Canada or Mexico.
ALL Specimens From All Locations:
- Please be sure that patient identification is clearly labeled directly on every sample tube and that it matches the requisition form. For extracted DNA samples please include volume and concentration.
- All sample types can be shipped at ambient temperature via an overnight courier.
